This tower silo is part of a former mill that used to operate in our town. The building has been abandoned for over 40 years according to the town’s website by remember that my friends and I used to play around there in the seventies and it was already empty with broken windows and empty rooms.
Several attempts to renovate and rescue the site have been made over the years. The best shot was a few years back when a consortium wanted to transform it into a brothel but the people in the neighbourhood would have none of it.
Then there was the plan to convert it into an upscale residential area. For a while this bill decorated the entry to the site:
But nothing came off it.
So nature is reclaiming the place, stone by stone, brick by brick.

What a sad demise of a wonderful looking building 😥

Quite. But the developer has gone bankrupt and nobody dares to touch the site because of laws governing the preservation of sites of historic interest.

and they let it fall apart so it is unsafe and requires demolition, Developers here do it all the time with older buildings

Such a shame. It’s a handsome building.

I think so. Although much more fuss is made about accompanying living quarters (kind of manor style) and I, personally, couldn’t care less (hence – no photos).
