“The straight line is godless and immoral. The straight line is not a creative line, it is a duplicating line, an imitating line.”
Friedensreich Hundertwasser
The architect and artist Hundertwasser was a well known adversary of the straight line, and hence the geometrical grid. The photos are of the Hundertwasser House in Bad Soden am Taunus, west of Frankfurt.

That is a unique building. I think if he could have gotten away with windows that did not have straight grid lines, he would have! As it was they were couched in that rounded entry that has almost a Native American pattern in the bricks or concrete. Great find, Gridy, I mean Elke. 🙂

There are other houses designed by Friedensreich Hundertwasser in different towns. I am planning to take pictures of the one in Darmstadt. They look phantastic – and don’t you like the first name he picked for himself: “rich in peach”?

I didn’t know that was the meaning of his name, but he is just peachy as is his building. I can’t wait to see more. 🙂

It was his first article of choice. He believed that the straight line would (will!) lead to the extinction of mankind.
