There is no abstract art. You must always start with something. Afterward you can remove all traces of reality.

It’s not what you look at what matters. It’s what you see.

Abstract art: a product of the untalented sold by the unprincipled to the utterly bewildered.

Both the quotes and photos are fabulous, but I laughed the most at the last quote. I’m one of the bewildered. That last photo looks like animals somehow. Did you twirl them?

Yes, I twirled (love the expression). It’s a whole flock of pigeons on a corrugated iron roof.

That was my absolute favorite. It looked like a herd of mice in a pot of milk chocolate!

Andy Capp is a British cartoon about a working class yet never working character. I used to see it in the Sunday papers when we lived in South Africa.

Oh my…I remember…well now that you mention it. He was quite popular in the states too, I think I probably read that comic every Sunday in the paper when I was younger.

I did get confused by this thread. Yes Andy Capp was a comic strip character but Al Capp was a cartoonist who drew the comic strip L’il Abner about fictional clan of hillbillies in an impoverished mountain village in the United States.

I knew an Artist who used to coat a canvass with paint. Then tilt it backwards and forwards. Adding other colours and using sponges and scrapers. They sold for quite a lot. So who knows?

I’ve seen a lot of that. It can be quite interesting, like cloud formations and the things you see in them.

Neither do I. And cartoons don’t have the same tradition in Germany as they do in the UK (or in South Africa for that matter).

I like your abstract art photos – very creative, although I think they’d make me a little dizzy if I looked too long. I’m often one of the bewildered so the Al Capp quote made me laugh! Visiting from WQ today.

And thanks for visiting. I’m glad you like the abstracts.

Great photos and quotes. It actually reminded me of an accidental photo I took of my girls years ago. I might need to go find it and add it to my post.
